Problem with Viewports

I am new. My name is Patrick Marth.
I'm visiting this page since 1 year but I never found the courage to register now I did and I hope that I'll not regret.

At first .. my English is very bad and I am sorry about this.

The reason, why I made this post is, that I have a problem .. I am using 3D Studio Max a long time. And I have a serious problem.
I am using Viewpoint Software because the other 2 won't work
I have an ASUS Radeon 9800XT (ATI) Card. Latest driver etc.

My problems are :
At OpenGL (the tutorial on your site says to use this with ATI cards)
When I am adding a texture. Blueprint for example or anything else (Wood / Stone etc) and Press "Show Map in Viewport" the texture is just weight ... anyway which texture this is.

At Direct 3D
I can see the texture but the option "Force 2 side" has no effect in the viewport

I really hope that anyone can help me.
My ICQ is 326893521

Thanks for every answer !

Chers

moved to the proper section of the forum.. you will get much better help here..

welcome to the forum!

not sure what the openGL prob is... give us a screen shot so we can see what your talking about.

The Direct 3d "problem" isnt a problem... the force 2 sided check box only applys to Rendering, it will not change things in your view port. To do this right click on your mesh that you would like to see the back side of, and then go to the properties. Then uncheck Backface Culling (or check it :P sorry havent been in MAX in a while) I am sure one of the smarter people on the board will come here and correct me where im wrong Deadly Freeze, nudge nudge

Send a message via Yahoo to 3dmonkey
Go inside your difuse slot where you have the texture you want to see and click the checkered box there to activate it.

Also, use forced 2sided inside the material only so it isn't applied to every single thing you make on the stage which probably won't be needed.

Thx for the post. But I don't understand what you are meaning

I see 2-Sided .. and if you mean the cube .. I know, how to see textures on an object, but at OpenGL it doesn't work
