Potplant

Hi all

I have seen many potplants in peoples scenes and wondered how to create the awesome plants. I used opacity maps to create the leafs and vray dome light with a HDR. cc please.

I added a dirt map to the pot and some simple tiles.

Very nice indeed! looking nice and neutral and soft, almost pastel style of colouring.

Nice clean mesh also, my only crit for me would be that your soil looks a touch flat, if you could mess up the mesh a little aswell as the bump, the soil will look spot on, everything else is great imo!

Kind Regards

looks good, but it'd be better if it actually was a pot plant.

The opacity map is an excellent idea. I've heard of using it before, and this is a great utilization of that technique.

Thats very kewl

Try and add the dirt with a displacement map maybe?

Very realistic render though. Looks almost real to me

Well done man, but everyone say something about the dirt, so i ll say something aswell, Kage is right about the displacement map that could save you some time but you could aswell ad some couple rocks and maybe some dead leaf or some small baby plants, like you say you can never have enought details : ) and maybe some tiny insects on the leafs.... just kidding about the insects

Are the leaves supposed to have that white outline on the edge? I think thats an opacity map problem. Maybe you could blur the opacity map between the black and white.
