Free rigs can be found here:
http://www.rigging101.com/ Good rigs are Package Man and IK Joe (for Maya and XSI). IK Joe can actually be used in FK or IK mode, make sure he's switched to the one you want before you start animating. |

Nobody using 3D Studio Max cares enough to make free rig sites, or they're (we're?) all too drunk. I'll keep looking though...

The thing with Max is that the biped is built in, so a lot of people use that for animation demo reels since it's renderable and humanoid shaped (instead of a bunch of sticks). And the biped is perfectly acceptable to use in the competitions here (except for anything with facial movement). It's not pretty, but neither are some of the sample models and rigs for Maya either.

hey guys....this is a great idea and a resource thread.......
but i always wanted a FLOUR SACK rig (preferebly MAYA) to practice those basic animation....but never seen or found one online..(i'm too bad at custom setup, even in basic level...!!!)...so if u can help out or if somebody can make one and post it here...that would b great!!!!.... |
