_Jump The Gap_ ![]() The idea, Lets take a step back for this challenge. A great idea was posted and after much thought, it has been decided. This challenge will be like no other challenge before it. Why, because this time, your character has to jump over something. So this is what I want to see, your character in a place, he needs to go somewhere, but something is in his/her way. This obstacle can be a hole in the ground, or a dead tree that has fallen over in his path. Keep in mind you don’t need to follow the example; it’s just to get you started. If you want, add music. Don’t make this harder than it sounds. If you have a question about anything, ask it. I don’t want people animating for a week and a half to find out what they are doing is wrong. _Rules_ - The due date is October 22nd, (3 weeks from now) a Sunday, 12 midnight(GMT). Voting will be that following week. Post your final entry’s in the Final Entry Thread. - Minimum animation: your animation needs to be at least 3 seconds. - Recommended screen resolution in 320x240 (you can do 640x480 if you want, but why would you). - You can post W.I.P.s but you are only allowed one complete entry. That link is also final. You can and should post your wip’s to get help. - Websites where you post your finals is up to you. - Remember, it's about animation, use your time for animation, not to get the best render possible, unless you can afford it. - Use of plug-ins not allowed. Must be key framed (hand animated) - Try to use Quicktime or Divx if possible. - You must post a render of some sort with your final entry post; also include a screen grab with key frames. No CHEATING. - Voting will be as follows - First place (3) points Second place (2) points Third place (1) points Good luck! BiG ToE

Ooh...looking forward to this one. I think I'll try using a different character other than the ninja, so I can get used to different characters/rigs. I wish I had über-fast modeling skills, so I could practice my modeling, as well as rigging...alas, I'm kinda lacking in the character modeling department
Regardless, this comp looks like it'll be fun ![]()

References are the key, so check this one out. It's fun to watch even if you're not animating anything, just some really good athleticism. |

inform your school, that this is your homework. And then let everyone in the class know.

Good job so far D!
![]() If you have time, I think it would make the jump more realistic if you had his right leg shoot up just before his left foot kicks off the ground. Just a thought ![]()

So... Diablos. Going for the gold ey?
So far so good, but as you say you have some tweeking to do. I feel that the thing that really makes this character feel weightless is that his legs don't stretch out at take-off. He actually flies a little. When he goes down to get power for the jump keep his legs at the ground for 3-4 frames more (from his most down position) Also, why on earth would you use IK for his arms here? Ditch it. M ![]() |
