image setup
I have a question about setting up images for use in modeling. I was using the tutorials in 3dtotal the ones for joan of arc and I was created 2 planes for front view and side view and i was wondering how do you set them up so that match up cause they dont seem to match up for me.
thanks, |

i've seen this question asked a few times and i felt that i might post a general message about this, this isn't about you specifically but just a thought i had in general about tutorials and the questions i've seen posted on the joan of arc tut.
i think the point of these tutorials and this plane thing is to give you a rough idea of what the forms are supposed to look like. imho, i think its more important to use these to help you visualize the forms in 3 space and then translate that vision onto the geometry than it necessarily is to be absolutely precise. an exception to this is if you're doing something very accurate or cad like, perhaps like modeling a car. however i often feel that some artists are missing the point of some of these tutorials. i think the point of these tutorials is to give you an idea of a process that you can later apply to all your work as opposed as a regimented series of procedures to get to a specific result. at least when i approach tutorials i always look for the process and then immediately think about how i can use what i learned to apply to my own ideas and work. anyhow good luck with the joan of arc tut. cheers -k |
