I practise now my coloring so I have a book from Matt Dixon I think - about fantasy heroes and how to draw them. The first is this hero :

I used painter and photoshop.

This is the second one - amazon. I tend to make it close to original but the face is mine and some little changes

And this one is called phoenix girl. I was inspired of this fire in the hero concept.

I will be happy to hear so crits about the coloring.

I think you're a bit too mellow with the colors, kind of timid, afraid to go more towards the middle of the spectrum, chose more saturated colors. I also think you are better at girl anatomy than man anatomy So some anatomy studies (aka nudes) needs to be done. And thats usually the perk of painting :P
I'm glad to see you delving in cg painting and I hope to see many, many more of your paintings soon.

Better indeed. You have a tendency for pastel-ish colors - which is not a bad thing. I'm curious to see the finished piece.

Don't beat yourself about colors, they are nice and warm only a bit subdued. The character and image overall ended up quite nice 'tho her right arm (spear arm) has some anatomical and perspective issues. Nonetheless, its good to see you plunging into the CG world and i curiously await your next piece.

awesome work!!

love your last painting

i dont know how firmiliar you are with 3D, but its almost like it just needs a painted ambient occlusion pass, to get her to sit on the ground a bit more.

see in this picture how the teapot defenately make contact with the ground.
hope this helps

a little thing in an otherwise awesome piece

WilH has a good point about the shadow. I can't seem to be able to see the latest image, the one for the contest.

Very nice posture and cool colors. The right leg seem to be just a bit longer than the left but overall, thumb up and keep them coming!
