Like baby concept and chicken head (two big foots and lill' wings, smooth it a bit and it'll be killer)
Blue clay one, (sorry I didn't liked the movie except technique and animation part), can't you polish this kind of clay?

Washka is right Kitana. You could use water and a brush to give it a bit of polish while the clay is wet. But if it has hardened, you could try to polish it with some sand paper. You can also try and add details after it dries 'tho it involves more risk to break it.

The clay I use is very friendly and easy to smooth but I didn't do it because I thought when I color it the paint itself id it not very gentle and light painted has a volume when it dries. Acrilic.
Thank both for the nice tips ![]()

Nice aquatic one, is it eating a fish?
You know, that's just a small trick for color test: you make a face and a profile photo then a model sheet from it, then you test your different colors version painting over it. Then when you've made your choice from it, you paint your clay.

I like the piece .... I love the style too ... but maybe its my personal preference ... i would use more saturated colors (vivid colors ... especially since its a night scene) .... if i were you.

I have to agree with ipranawake, Kitana. I doodle a bit on your image just to give you some visual pointer which you are free to take into consideration or simply ignore.
First, saturation: you are way to timid with it and I know how you feel. I'm still timid on using strong colors because I don't want my images to end up looking like Ronald McDonald and his "look at me" style. The best approach for me is to use the color wheel and to keep close to the primary colors and their complementaries. In this case green and blue and the colors in between them. Now, what I did was to darken the upper part of the image (which is of no importance really) and kind of bring into the center of it the character (your main focus here). Then consider the light sources (which usually are three: environmental, main light source and fill light or rim light) - of which here you can clearly distinguish two: your main light and your fill (rim) light. In your image, the light source casts light but doesn't cast any shadow. you always have to be careful with that. I painted shadows only on the head of your character and just a little bit on the arms to emphasize that rim light (which is also casting a slight shadow). Also, the lower hand of your character was too small and I made it bigger. On the upper hand I took out the thumb since it looks better to give the impression the magic is in between her fingers and this accomplishes the goal better. I also changed her hair to green to keep it within the chosen palette (brown/red was jumping on the opposite side of the palette). The idea of the image is very nice and you can push it as much as you like. I hope I helped and not made things more confusing or hard for you.
