_Run Cycle_ The idea, Alrighty then, this is a 3 weeker, I think. I want to see a run cycle, a simple run cycle. Nothing special, unless you want it to be. Use props if you need/want to. If you want to add music, do so. But don’t post anything that looks like a fast walk cycle. Normal walks are boring, but run cycles are cool. Have fun with it. If you don’t have a character to animate, you can find one on the net(let us know you didn’t model it). _Rules_ - The due date is November 12th, (three weeks from now) a Sunday 12pm(GMT). Voting will be on that following week. Post your final entry’s in the Final Entry Thread. - Minimum animation: your animation needs to have at least 3 full step cycles, or 6 normal steps. - Recommended screen resolution in 320x240 (you can do 640x480 if you want, but why would you). - You can post W.I.P.s but you are only allowed one complete entry. That link is also final. You can and should post your wip’s to get help. - Websites where you post your finals is up to you. - Remember, it's about animation, use your time for animation, not to get the best render possible, unless you can afford it. - Use of plug-ins not allowed. Must be key framed (hand animated) - Try to use Quicktime or Divx if possible. - You must post a render of some sort with your final entry post; also include a screen grab with key frames showing the steps. That means no looping one step. - Voting will be as follows - First place (3) points Second place (2) points Third place (1) points Good luck! BiG ToE

Once I get some college apps out of the way, I will reward myself by opening Maya and animating this run cycle.

I already sorta consider IK Joe to be a stick figure (no disrespect meant to his creators, he is a great rigged model after all). Had some fun customizing him tonight to suit what I have in mind for the current challenge. Meet Hero Joe... ![]() (and yes, the cape is rigged.) |

![]() Diabolos: your animated intro is longer than the animation, its cool and all, but at the same time it takes away from the animation. About the animation, he needs more twist in the hips. He is a big guy, wit large muscles, maybe it's just me, but I see him fighting with his body to move.

I would love to have a go at this ^^
I'm just a little unclear about the rules, it says : Quote:

how many full steps is it supposed to be? 3,6 or 10? and the second is: no looping one step? so we have to freehand key more than one cycle? (I consider a cycle to be two steps) sorry if im just being stupid and misunderstood what was written ^^ Many thanks in advance -Owen- |

my fault, its just the 3 full steps or the 6 normal.
The cycle you speak of is the 3 full steps. So 3 cycles. |

excellent, thanks for the info ^^
is there any particuar reason why we are animating a 3 'cycle' run? I would have thought we would make 1 cycle and either loop it or copy/paste it 3 times and change it slightly if needed... I've never seen someone run with a limp every 3rd step for example. |

well, you can do the three however way you want. They can be the same, or different, thats up to you. The first post is just to give an idea to get people started.
