3ds max: cant move objects
i have a strange problem. everytime i want to move a object i doesnt move. its locked at the 0, 0, 0 coordinates.
i ve converted it to an editable mesh, went to the Polygon selection mode and selected all the polys the objects has. it moved now. ive then tried to reseting the pivot to the objects center but instead the objects got moved to 0 0 0 again. anyone knows whats wrong? 3ds max 8 btw |

2 things I can possibly think of.
1). You accidentally pressed space bar which makes things go spastic (i.e. press space bar once and try again if it still doesn’t work make sure you press space bar again to turn on/off the lock) 2). You touched a setting you didn't know about possibly by accident in which case if I were you I would try to export the object or merge it with a fresh max file. Sorry pretty poor explanation but seriously the only thing I can think is that you pressed the space bar or froze the selection. |

yeah could be that it`s frozen,if the mesh is grey in color then that means it`s frozen.

Jus a bit of fun really

So you still can't move it even if you start a completely new file and create a new object? It does sound like the space bar problem, but I'd assume that starting a new file releases the lock does it not?

Maybe your space bar is blocked or smthng or maybe it's just some sort of weirdo major glitch, in the latter case I'm afraid you have to reinstall max.

Is the Gizmo appearing when your moving objects? If not, this could be why.

ive tried the space button thing but its not it. then ive selected to move the pivot only and as i wanted to move the pivot, only the object moved. it was like the pivot is the center and i could spin the object around it(i dont mean this like normal spinning around pivot...if i wanted the pivot to move down, the sphere moved up and left was right etc...).
@Kage: what kind of gizmo do you mean? |
