Angry riggin my bug

I'm riggin a bug that i modeled (btw the first time iam riggin). As i rigged the last to legs the skin modifier stoped working :/...

Iam moving the bones but the mesh wont move

any idea of a setting that could have caused that ?

this may or maybe not be your problem but under advanced parameters there is a switch for always deform and reference frame. always deform turns off the skin modifier essentially at the reference frame that you specify (usually frame 0) so that you could tweak bones if necessary without losing your weights.

this maybe your problem, or it may just be the skin crapped out on you and you'll have to start over. hopefully that's not the problem.

good luck

the allways deform was on, as i turned it on and off and back on. It worked ... but i decided to load the file new because i moved the bones and they didnt match to the mesh anymore. But this time nothing happend... looks like a stupid max bug

i have a saved version where 4 legs work and the last 2 are not rigged, i will have to redo the other two :/

thx anyway

well glad that some part of my advice did work. but i understand, skin is a very precarious modifier. its so easy to lose the work you did on it. i try to always save off vertex wieght tables as much as i can to have some sort of backup. but i comiserate i've lots skin weights plenty of time before.
