Smith&wesson

S&W .45 automatic

This is the last thing I made.

A lot of boolean operations and tweaking but i think it was worth it.

Nice, I take it that it's stainless steel and not blued. What model is it? You might change some of the safeties to steel also.

It should be Mod 4505. I used a plastic replica as a reference and it was black.

It would be hard to see details on a black gun so I've made it gray. It could be machined steel or even aluminium.

I tryed with safeties and trigger gray but i think this looks better.

hmm the mats an the gun look like plastic. Maybe add a bit of shine to them. The modeling is good though

Try buying a toy gun and something to measure it with (this is not a joke, that's what I did). If it looks realistic it will be a good start.

If buying a toy gun..

If you live in the US, you'll need to check local laws about toy guns, some places don't allow them.

I made another version of a gun for a comparison.

The steel one has some shine (specular level 170, glosiness 10) but it is brushed and I didn't want polished look on it.

Arigato!
this is great reference. I'll look at the gun someone in my family owns (unloaded ofcourse). Maybe that will help.

Only textures that it has are bumps on the handgrips and engraved text and serials. Did you mean that?

I think that odd looking metal surface has been taken care of.
