MudBox Sucks

Ok i recently got mudbox and im absolutly infuriated with it, the official version has more bugs than beta 1.0. I spent All day trying to figure out what the heck was going on perhaps you guys can help me.

My first problem is that symetry just flat out doesnt work. I Can have the most symetrical object possible and the program will fail to find symmetry. Every once in a while it will find the symetry but it will be Way off and start painting all over the place.

And my other beef is that the render to texture is stupid, For whatever reason i cant choose a file type to output to. I can pick a location i want the file to go but without a file type assigned to it, it doesnt work. And putting the abreviations after the name doesnt work either IE file.tiff
Heres a picture, the file type is supposed to go under the picture dimensions

are you syre its supposed to be under the image size, looks to me like if you click on the 3 dots(periods), then after picking where to save, there should be a file type in there.

You can click the periods like Big Toe says and define a file name without putting any file type and MudBox will automatically assign a tiff file format to the extracted file..or you can leave the space blank and when you hit start operation Mudbox will pop up a window where you can state the name and file type before it starts the extraction process.
As for the symmetry i have no problems at all with even complex meshes.
Have you tried the translate tool to make sure your mesh is centred within the wokspace ??
if you can't get it sorted i suggest you try over at the MB forums and ask for a bit of advice there. I think you will get more replies.
