Gridlinked - Dominance War II

We have awakened! Our sentient programming is crystal clear and precise - cleanse all the flesh weaklings who plot and brag high in their pedestal, we will show them the perfect design of a perfect race... a new race... the machine race!!

Daedalus HK + Zahn Drones

I've named it "Daedalus HK", he is a special Hunter-Killer robot, deployed only on the most important and difficult missions. His two hover Drones (concept still to come) act as weapons, spotters, advanced sensors and energy emitters for his personal force field (the Hunter role), enabling the bot itself (the Killer bit) to close in and finish the job!

UPDATES: i'll be posting here the milestones (final sections), for the full progress check the entire thread.

LOW POLY COMPLETE SET MILESTONE 4: Mar 26 (go to post)

MINIGUN MILESTONE 3: Mar 25 (go to post)

ROBOT MILESTONE 2: Mar 24 (go to post)

DRONE MILESTONE 1: Feb 25 (go to post)

FINAL CONCEPT: Feb 19 (go to post)
Here's the side idea i talked about a few days ago, since i love chainguns, and everybody loves chainguns, i thought it might be cool for the design to be chaingun-based.

Ok, not gonna do the Mech, so i'm thinking a Terminator like, hunter-killer bot, or a more stealthy-suited robot, capable of some kind of cloaking.

Other options i'm considering is some sort of liquid metal skin, with mimetic properties to blend in with it's environment, and another possibility is to have very small projectors all around the body, which connect to form an energy shield.

I think i'm gonna go for the humanoid look, there seem to be some spider/scorpion like concepts already, and our army's units should complement each other.

Things are stopped atm, all this coincided with getting a new workstation pc to replace my 4 year old machine, just picked it up two days ago, unfortunately there seems to be some kind of problem with the SB Audigy which makes a lot of stuff crash, i tried everything to fix it but didn't succeed, so i have to take it back to the store today

Will reinforce you guys as soon as i have this fixed! Keep up the great work!

Got an old machine out of storage, won't be great, but it's better than nothing, right?

Anyway, i've been discussing ideas back and forth with a friend, and he's gonna help me out and do the concept. First up, some silhoueting to help rough out the best possible shape. Which do you guys like best?

Since pets and steeds are allowed, and there's no rule against weapons having no physical connection to the mesh, i'm thinking of having two gun drones which orbit the robot, acting as weapons, spotters and energy shield emitters. Of course, IF i can manage that plus the weapons on 1000 tris

Loving 3 and 14 for the legs and 2 and 14 for the upper body....so I guess 14 is the overall winner for me.......

Thanks for the feedback guys! Further detailing of 9, 10 and 14/15 in progress, and using elements from 3 as well. Stay tuned!

Ok, further detail to a few handpicked designs.

#3: an all-round balanced concept, has a more vertical, thin look. Big gun on the left arm, some sort of autocannon or laser. protective plating on the thigs and shoulders.

#8: Big thigs and a big left arm for swinging those bodies away! Less thin, more built up, not so big a gun, still has a vertical look.

#9: is like a cross between the previous two and #15... it's my least favorite, too massive gun arm, too weird left arm, i tend to like symmetrical designs, unlike this one.

#10: my favorite from the pre-conceptualization phase, it still resonates with me. Has sort of a hunched, diagonal look, which makes it feel dynamic, i think it looks menacing! Has triple-jointed legs for improved performance, and that gun design is cool!

#14: tied with #9 for least favorite, it's too wide, too cumbersome. Although it's smaller, it presents a bigger targeting profile. Not too hot about it.

#15: wasn't too hot about it before, but now that it's better defined, i love it! Looks really menacing, the top torso bit reminds me of a hawk, triple-jointed legs for more maneuverability, both arms are free of weapons so it can use them freely, and the two gun pods on the shoulders stand out - you don't wanna mess with this bot!

My faves are #10 and #15, what do you guys think?
