Question Clothes in 3dsmax R5

There are a number of packages to simulates clothes in 3dsmax. Most of them very easily create things like tablecloths and bedsheets, but remember, this thread is for Clothes not Cloths, in a high poly environment.
Since it seems choosing the right software package for you is as hard as choosing the right religion, I've decided to do a poll. (I know I shouldn't use this anilogy in these times, but since we're all grown-ups...)

Choose your favourite and vote!

I decided to not put an end date to this poll since software is a work in progress and plugins get better as time passes.
Hopefully this will function as a barometer.

Iīve only tried Stich and I think it ruled as long as you are making an animation, for a still Iīd rather model the clothes myself...

yeah i hear ya there kit, i find that you can't get the nice detail and stuff with simulation without paying a gigantic overhead in terms of rendering time and poly count, its not even about smoothing on rendering you actually physically have to have those verts there to simulate with so all the bonuses of rendertime smoothing are gone.

one thing i've been meaning to really try more of (my list of things to try and do is so long ), is a hybrid of simulation and modeling. kinda like modeling in the cloting nicely in a pseudo natural pose and then simulating certain areas with differential stiffness in the cloth, so that some areas of nicer detail are stiffer and don't change while other softer areas will be changed through simulation. anyhow like i said, another thing that's on my queue of things to do.

Yhea I think I understand, but it kinda of sounds like one of those times when workarounds become so huge and time consuming that maybe itīs time to go and see if the plugín couldnīt have been made a bit different. In the case of Stich I blame the triangular meshes it produces. A more "quadratic" mesh could be really helpfull since in most cases you could simulate a simple mesh and later add a meshsmooth modifier or something. Adding meshsmooth to a dense triangular mesh has hardly any effect!

I hope that makes sense.

Does Stitch actually create clothes, or is it like a modifier? I haven't used that one yet....

ok, it sounded like a stupid question, but what i mean is:
Do i have to model the creases and folding of the clothes, or do i have to model the default shape of the clothing and have stitch drape it around the body?

I don't like tri's

I think I heard someone say that cloth simulation was the one place he likes using tris... although I don't remember who said that or why. Anyway, do any of the cloth sims do subdavision themselves? It would make sense to have the general shape of the cloth made by the modeler, and then when the cloth sim animates it, it could add and remove polys as needed to minimize render times.

You just have to make the shape of the cloth and let stitch do the rest. (ie: drape it around ur character)

Zytrex: the things is, you need a pretty high polycount on your clothe objects in order for them to animate right...
And I donīt think any of the plug-ins do subdivision themselves, but they all work with the usual MAX modifiers so adding a meshsmooth is no problem in general
