Fast Grass

Here is my first, ever made tutorial for 3D max

Fast Grass

Skill level: Beginer
Time to finish: 1 min.
(3dsmax 4, 5, 6, 7... )

Many of you will notice that there is a many ways to make grass better in 3DS Max, then in this tutorial. However I don't know any faster way of creating a grass. This tut should be good for some grass garden in front of the house, or maybe, why not, diferent kind of carpets.

Let's Start

Make a plane in top or perspective window with size 1000x1000 (generic units), 100x100 segments, and moust important density 8.0
(density acctualy means that the number of segments will be many time increased, but only in render, not in viewport ).

Now, give a plane a noise modificator, with following settings.
scale = 1.0
fractal on
Z = 30

You've done it already!
That's acctualy a basic of the tutorial. Here is the render.

Now, you can add another (or couple) noise modificators for the hills(with bigger scale valey, offcourse), a couple of blueish fill omni's around, some yellow direct light with shadows on, texture and so on...

Hope you like the tutorial.
Down you have attached a max 7 scene.

Hey this is really useful, for those large scenes where you need grass, but you won't make close-ups. Good idea, bobi!
