Maxscript Error

Hello,

I'm on 3DSMax 8, BlueCherry was working fine this morning and then I must have done something wrong cause now it returns only errors.
For example, when I enable GI, I've got "--Unknown property: "GlobalLightDecay" in undefined". Same thing for Final Gather : "--Unknown property: "FinalGatherAccuracy" in undefined". The Help buttons don't open a window anymore.

I tried to restart Max and re-install BlueCherry but nothing better.

Can anyboby help please ?

Hey Bulgrozz,

Perhaps I can shed some light on the problem, and with any luck we can create a solution. BlueCherry works by setting up and storing variables that are then translated into changes in mental ray.

The errors you see here are where the mental ray variables are not responding properly to BlueCherry's changes. There are a lot of scenarios that can cause this to happen, and it's difficult to determine what caused the error without being able to replicate it.

Do you have any specific steps that led up to the problem, Bulgrozz? If so, please let me know and I can get started on a patch to fix the error. If not, I might suggest using the 'reset' button in the bottom rollout of the BC interface and restarting your render setup.

P.S. The reason the help buttons do not open anymore, and you're probably getting a 'ping' sound as you use the interface, is because when 3dsMax crashes an interface like BC you have to restart it from the "Start BlueCherry" Button in the Utilities Panel.

I too had the same problem. I was fooling around testing it and I tried the Glow/Bloom FX checkbox in the special effects and rendering rollout. It told me to save my max file and then restart max for it had to unlock a shader or something of that nature. Then when I reopend Max and the file and tried to run Blue Cherry...it kept on erroring the script and then could not run. I used the reset and it works again.

By the way, the few small test renders I have done look amazing!!

Glad to hear it Hayes3d. I'm looking over a small part of the code in BC, and it looks like I can see where some of these problems are coming from. I'm going to write it on my big white-board for fixes in v1.1.

For now; please let me know if you have any specific steps to cause the error! I'll keep hammering at it on this end.

Cheers!

Also chiming in to say I get exactly the same error following those steps.

Additionally under Final Gather and HDRI when I click calibrate it brings up the help window but then when I click calibrate in that (which I assume should take me through to the HDRI calibration windows) it just closes the help window.

Using Max 9 32bit.
