Tommy_T - First Dominance War/Low poly

Hi all, I am new to this forum and have been looking to enter a low poly contest in order to help me learn how to create and use normal maps. The brief seems very interesting and I have come up with a few ideas which I wish to share and get feedback on.

The main idea behind my machine is a stealth/surveillance robot that go into battle in small groups (probably about 5) in order to get intelligence and can also be used to flank/ambush our enemys as they are also quite burly and very good at hand to hand and small firearms.

The thing that makes my robot different is that in the heat and pressure of the exploding planet, the mechanics and spirit combined with the high amounts of carbon giving the machines the ability to control crystals/diamonds. They use this ability to create optic fibres which can tunnel underground to gain there intelligence and to create weapons such as swords. This would give my charachter a kind of organic look with bits of coal sticking out of the mechanics and crystals growing on his back. I'm thinking along the lines of Shadow Of The Colossus but not to much and not that big. (Wouldn't be good for stealth.)

I am unsure wether this would be aloud but I'm thinking that if I stick to 80% cybernetics then I should be alrite? rite?

Heres a quick screenshot on a very low poly model I have been working on the last hour or so, still very work in progress. Any comments welcome.

Good start i see you modeled it in quads so i imagine you plan to take it into zbrush later. If you have any questions regarding creating normal maps in max or zbrush don't hesitate to ask me and i will try my best to provide you with the answers you are looking for. Nice to have you with us, good luck.

I am planning on taking into zbrush but have very little experience in it so will probably be asking a few questions, thanks. Little update on head and torso armour, made some gloves to but don't like them so will probably redo. Tell me what you think.

Little edit it now, changed the head a little bit and got rid of them stupid gloves. Made addition being the optic fiber thingys coming out of his back. Dont worry bout the symmetry at the moment will sort that out later. thinking bout having one of the top ones wrap around his arm down to his hand to create a weapon of some sort. Enjoy

Just a quick little update. Tweaked the arm sockets as didn't like the way they were looking and then further stylized the arms so there more defined and less twisted. Small update to the back but major update being the start of the legs. Unfortunatley have no real concept drawings at the moment as I started modelling not expecting to get anywhere but suprisingly got something. A bit stumped for legs, guns and extras at the moment so will try my best at sketching some concepts for you (I'm not the most talented 2D artist around though!) Any ideas for the legs or any general crits?
