Mercura
Here's the 1st concept of Mercura
![]() Being my 1st competition, I'm going to work with a simple design. I may add more complex designs if time permitting. The weapon (not drawn to scale) can cut, bash, or pierce. It has two of them and I'm debating if they should be attached to its torso in which they can also function as grappling devices. The function of Mercura is like Tony Jaa (Ong-Bak, The Protector) with superspeed. It's purely offensive aside from using evasion and parrying as defense. Primarily close-quarters melee, it will have a secondary ranged weapon only used for suppression. It's not a stealth machine. Last edited by Jido; 02-03-2007 at 10:35 AM.. New Concept Image
Ok. The last concept was a quick sketch just to get me in officially.
I still don't have a back view, but this one is a lot more of what I had in mind. ![]() I decided not to attach the weapons to its body. They don't look like blades, but that's what those things are on the shins. Last edited by Jido; 02-03-2007 at 10:36 AM.. Reason: new image location |

hey, it's coming along. i would thicken out the cheeks on the face a bit. also the chest might need a little lift. of course the arms need to be slender. finally, would say the topology needs to be optimized to get rid of some of the triangle shaped planes. this is especially so around the collar. keep it up.

Cool. I did the cheeks like that on purpose. I still have internal parts that go behind its mask. I did lift the chest once already (compare to previous image), but you are right; it still needs more. I just realized that my sternum is way to big too. The collars are crap; I will come back to the collars once I get the rest of the torso updated and done. I'll thin the arms a little, for the sake of the female appeal, it should still look formidable. I have a bad habit of procrastinating optimizing topology. Feedback much appreciated.

Looks really cool GP. My suggestion. Draw the jaw back inwards. In the last render it looks to protruding a bit. You need it to shift back just a little bit.

LowPoly
Well, it's exactly 6000 polys
I wanted to post the normal mapped version, but some of the polys didn't project correctly. It was originally to have 6 communication/sensor devices on the back of it's head, but I reduced them down to two. I needed more polys in other locations in order for the normal map to project properly within the envelope. I don't think I'll take the HiPoly to LoPoly route anymore, unless I have to. The next posts will be the normal mapped version and the weapons. |

Oh yeah, the correct sensor wasn't duplicated to the other side at the time of capture, so you can still see the older terrible looking sensor.
