Animation: "on the fly"

Here is a first animation that I did. Have not been doing the 3d thing very long - about a year.

I pretty much did this animation to learn and get my feet wet in the 3d medium.

Any comments are welcome.
The animation is about 4 min long and can be found here (33mb):

Uses newest Divx codec.

Also, here is the title image.

Thanks for any feed back.

Hey Seudo.. I watched your video, and a couple of things struck me right away..

The biggest thing is the pace of the movie - it could be cut into about 1/4 of the length of the current size and still tell the same story.. the beginning title stretched a bit too long, that scene with the rising sun could cut to the fly in about 3 seconds, and the fly really doesn't need to write (your?) name on the screen unless you want to actually have the words appear on the screen.

Like I said, that's the main thing I could see wrong with this movie.. half or more of the frames can be cut right out of it.

Other than that, the one other thing that struck me was that when you follow the fly down thru the forest canopy, it (again) was a bit too long.. and due to the length I noticed that it looks like the blurring trunks and leaves repeat themselves a couple of times.
A single swipe/blur downwards would be sufficient, I'd say.

And... if you cut the end credits down to just a list of your accomplishments, you might cut a meg or two off the download size

Thanks Pawz. Those are great suggestions.

"and the fly really doesn't need to write (your?) name on the screen unless you want to actually have the words appear on the screen."

Wasn't sure what you ment here? Are you refering to the time where the fly is zipping all over the screen and than flys down into the forest?

If so, the fly is not spelling any name out that was all just random stuff, but I guess not random enough.

Thanks again for the suggestions

Yeah, I was referring to the fly zipping back and forth above the trees.. I wasn't sure if you were trying to write letters or just zip around

I think the movements would actually be fine, 'cept you're watching the fly zip around for like 30 seconds, which means you've got plenty of time to speculate as to what the heck it's doing.
