Tablet Pointers

I really need to get myself a tablet so I can learn how to digitally paint and bring my drawings to life.

any tips on what kind of tablet to get? what should I look for besides the size of the tablet?

well, anyone and everyone with a tablet will tell you to go with a Wacom. Any of them will work, but if your not sure if you will like the feel of it, get a small 4 x 6 to play with. If you like it, try taking it back within 30 days, say something happened and it work work, then exchange for a bigger one.

I use a Calcomp Ultraslate. It's over 10 years old, but is awesome. Never used a Wacom, I'm happy with this. It's 6x4.
I recently found out there's a 'tilt' function, if you tilt the pen, it acts like it does in real life (and becomes wider).
They come to life with things like Photoshop and ZBrush, were you have infinite movement, as opposed to a mouse.

The bad points are, you tend to mess around more.
I think everyone would recommend them, so much better than a mouse when doing textures etc.

Get the largest possible that you can afford.

I have aiptek A4 on my workplace n it is really garbage! you can't draw a strick line cause it shakes n draw undesired lines horizontally or vert! It has 1024 pressure sense but guess you can't use more than 512 because it just stop workin for seconds if the pressure was alil high! n you can't use that 512 levels even, in PS, if you use the aiptek driver! you must use a driver from diffrent company that cause some bugs but you have to or you can use it just as mouse!
anyway I suggest vacom, I heard that it sense even direction of your pen!
