Question morphing textures

I have a metal surface that I want to age in but I can't figure out how to do this.

3dmax 5
No plugins-can't get plugins
photoshop 5.5
windows 2000

try using a mix material type. it allows you to mix two textures and use a mask if necessary. you can animate it mixing, ie one fading in while the other fades out. that might work out if you make two textures where the only change is oxidation
