2-sided problem (Another little problem)

Hi, this isn't specifically about the Eva DVD but it cropped up when I got to the "Modelling behind the ear Pt. 1" video of the tutorial.
In the tutorial I'm instructed to turn on 2-sided in the material editor, I already knew about 2-sided materials and have used them before, but this time when I went to turn on 2-sided and for some reason the material won't go 2-sided! I've tried switching it on and off, leave max, go back into max, then I tried it on a new max file and it still didn't work. This is very strange and hasn't happened before. I recently re-installed max 7 after my PC was fixed, could this be why? Any idea why 2-sided just won't turn on?
Cheers.

Great! That was what it was, cheers!
The DVD is going very well. Lots of easy to understand details. You've done a great job, MonteCristo!

I just remembered another little problem, it's not to do with the modelling. In one of the tutorials you said there was another multi/sub-object material for the box which had the guide wires. I was using "Starter_01.max" as instructed but it didn't contain the guide wire material. The only material in the editor was one called "Photon_bouncer" before I created the eye and model material.
Not too much of a problem as I'm doing ok following the textured model guides on the box, but it's just a slight niggle to not see how close my model is to the original.

I guess I need to "re-make" the materials for the box to see the guidewire material?

Thanks again.
