target welding!!

How do i use the target weld vertice option in an editable mesh in 3ds max 5? i've checked the user reference but it doesn't explain how to do it very well. its driving me mad!! Please help.

there are two types of welding, the regular one and target

the regular one works on distance where it will weld all the selected verts that are within the given distance that you specify in the spinner

target weld is where you select a vert and tell it the vert to weld to. click target weld, the button should turn yellow or something then select the vert and you'll see dashed line when you move the mouse and then select the vert that you want the first selected vert to weld do.

if you can't seem to make it work this may not be because you did something wrong. i believe that max only lets you weld verts that are part of an open edge. so the vert you are trying to weld to may not be "eligible" to be welded to.

Yeah, the open edge thing is with edit polys though, so if you really need to do it you could use an edit mesh modofier first...
