PC spec for 3DS Max / Sketchup / 3D Viz etc

New person here!

I am wanting some advice as to what kind of PC spec I should be looking at to run rendering programs such as 3DS Max, Sketchup, 3d Viz 4 etc etc. Its not for me as I dont use these programs, its for a colleague.

He is currently running an AMD Athlon 2.2 processor with a GIG of RAM and ATI 128MB AGP 8x graphics card.

I was thinking along the lines of an Alien Ware PC but you guys have more experience with the best specs for 3D and rendering than me so any advice would be much appreciated!

Thankyou

Not a techno-type, but I would say that what he has will work pretty good. I would up the ram some, 2 gigs would be good, and a newer video card wouldn't hurt, but his system as it stands should handle Max, at least, without problems.
