Matte/Shadow
Hallo
I WHANT this object to be visible in the scene but not the other.. How do i make that.. The white is matte/shadow And the red arrow.. is the object i whant to be visible in the scene...If you understand |

Not quite following you there...
if the white one has a matte/shadow material, then it should mask out the parts of the object behind it, but the rest of the object should still be visible... |

Okey
1. The white cube is Matte/shadow 2. The cube with red arrow is named 2 3. the other one is named 4 Okey when i render the image now It will look like the Ehh i will make a paint image okey this image is a fake.. ms paint rules =D |

hmm that's a tough one. selectively determining what is masked and not with a matte shadow object in max. i guess my first question/suggestion is why not make the matte object smaller so that it only clips the magenta box? if you can't do that, there might be another way but the first thing that comes to mind is to just either composite a still in photoshop or composite animation in something like aftereffects or premiere (i don't really know aftereffects and i don't know premiere that well, can you mask and composite with just premiere?)

Matte/Shadow material is meant to work that way. It will mask out the portion it covers. If you dont want it to do so, why place it there, like kuman asked? You can if you want render out the box alone and then the rest of the scene and composite the box over the scene in after effects if you still want to do it this way. I still dont understand why.

I don't know if there is a way of "excluding" the green box from the matte/shadow object's effect, but you could always render the green box in a separate pass (with an aplha channel) and then composite it in some compositing app.

hmm
okey ... Okey this is the "scene" "not realy =D" but ust a exempel. The "Milkbox" Is a texture on a plane And the grey box is The thing i will animate. Then If i whant the grey box to go behind the milk. I add a matte/shadow front of the milk box. So when the grey box goes there it will not be visible. And then it look like this And i whant to make so the plane dont be like this... ![]() |

You got it a bit wrong Downup.
![]() The matte/shadow material shows the background through geometry, not other geometry. Downup what the fellows have said is quite correct u r messing with the wrong thing !!! Why do u want to use matt-shadow since u r using a plane with a picture on it??!! add an opacity map to the picture and relief your soul!!
