I think that 256 is limit. 512 is what I put in every computer I assemble. Sometimes when I do low end computer I put 256. I do this because I HATE swap...

I dont think so. I have used P4s and AMDs and the p4s I have used come nowhere near an AMD's performance. AMDs rock real hard.

when I heard the name I thought of AMD CELERON! there almost the same, and the pentium one is probably comparable

A little update on that thought: the first Geforce FXs are already out and in all the reviews I´ve seen so far ATI is kicking it´s sorry noisy ass!

A good way to have a cheap quadro or a firegl card is to buy the gaming version of this card then to crack its driver.

You can do this with RivaTuner (www.guru3d.com) for both nvidia and ati video cards. Go to http://www.nvworld.ru/index_e.shtml for complete reviews of systems running this way.

I'm myself using a radeon 9500 pro with a Firegl X1 driver and it's fast and stable.

I tried that one with a GForce 2 MX: I "transformed" it into a Quadro 2 and I installed the MAXtreme drivers custom made for 3D MAX. Altough they worked much better that the default OpenGL on MAX 5, using Direct 3D was still significantly better indedpendently of wheter I used it as a GForce or a Quadro
