Threedy forums upgrading and moving to a better server
Hi All,
This thread is to do two things, to let you all know that we will soon move the forums to a new and much more powerful server and secondly to ask for some feedback as to anyway they can be improved or any particular vbulliten forum mods you know of and you would like to see installed here. We can also increase the limits on image attachents, any requests on this? You can also view details of current forum mods here do here Many thanks Tom |

I think there should be a seperate section devoted entirely to render engines.
Right now it`s lumped in with modelling and lighting, tweaking render settings seems to be a very popular thread theme here and a section devoted to engines with subsections for the most popular engines seems a good idea to me. Also possibly in the 3d finished gallery section have thumbnail s next to the thread title. |

Hi,
It would definately be a good idea to increse the limit on image attachements. 100k is too low to show some decent details of any images. When I want to show an image wich has an higher resolution, I host it myself somewhere on my ftp account (most of the people use photobucket or something similar, and it sometimes causes problems). If I change my files location (on my ftp) or if I eventually change the name of my website, all my links would be broken. Altrough it still should be accepted to use links to pictures (because sometimes uploading attachements services fails), we should have something like 1meg max file size. It could also be a good idea to let us show more than one image per post as well (but no more than 5, maybe less). General question : who is still on 56k connection??

It might be useful to increase the limit on avatar images.
all images I wanted to use were either too large in dimensions, or too large in size, or even both. The rest of the forum is perfect ![]() |

I think that words like ****, ****, ****, *******, **** and **** should be unhidden. That rule is ****** ****.
Nah, I'm just stirring. I agree with the above though. (Except 1mb upload limit is very excessive), I think even 250kb should do the trick. And the avatars should be allowed to be at least 150x150 or at least 30kb. I also know of a Youtube embedding function that's available. That would be cool, that way everyone can upload their animations to youtube and play it right in the thread.

Other than the items already addressed on here already, I'd suggest a personal space for members with galleries. Some artworks might not be good enough to enter into the amazing 3Dtotal galleries, so many galleries for those members that wish to show all of there's Speed Modelling Challenge's and Speed Painting Challenges aswell, and things like that, that might not be amazing renders, but the member would still like to show them off, regardless if they've won, or honourable mentions and runner ups etc.
So for example a member could have a mini gallery with some or all of there SMC's, and 2 speed painting artworks, and a few that have been placed in the top 3 categories of Mention, Runner Up, & Winner etc. Also maybe we could have a nice little graphic for each, as an award to be placed on the artwork, or next to it, or on members own websites. You could even hold a challenge to create a 3Dtotal / Threedy award logo for Winners, Runner Ups & Honourable mentions, and have the only rules are like normal award, the winners have to be a gold award design, the runner's silver and mentions bronze. Just a suggestion, I know CGS does something similar. 3DTotal & Threedy Give so much anyway, but it's great that things will be improving even more than before. OK rambling over. Thanks For Reading Kind Regards Classic Gamer

I wonna suggest a gallery with no limits on uploaded files (but not in size of each file) for each user and a link on the left panel under avatar of user to it!(or as a prize for those wins challenges!)
Also a award winning sign for winners of threedy challenges; I even suggest different award symbols for each type of challenges (but in a unique style!) like one for SMC, one for SPC and one for stylized animal challenges and so on! I also suggest some more smillies and even some more complex animations on them and also in forms! You know! We see some really nice emoticons in some forums; it would be nice to having some hidden emoticons too! ![]() I also suggest a thumbnail of attached images (in case more than one image attached) instead of just the file name! Rating was a good thing to knowing ppl in first look also! (Reputation) but dunno! RSS Feeder! Anyway good luck with new changes & hardware’s and thanks for em, mim, ![]()

I think it is time for a separate Sculpting (i.e. Z-Brush and Mudbox) section.
I also miss the reputation points. Thumbnails for all threads would be awesome. The author should have control of what image is used. |

Well just do one thing for and thats fix the time. Everything else is just as i like it.
And i think that the reputation pts would not be a good idea. Thats coz most ppl dont know abt it or most dont give others rep pts even if they r helped. Anyways thats for you to decide. But please do fix the time.
