Setting up a scene (3ds Max Tutorials Needed)
Hello, I have only just begun modelling so please forgive my elementary question.
I have started modelling a Boeing jet (with 3ds Max 9) and i think i may have jumped in to quickly as i now have come across ratio problems in relation to my background images. I have since discovered an (intermediate/advanced) tutorial suggesting a different scene-setup method than the one i used. I would like to know how to setup my scene as in the image below. ![]() Also i have found this blue-print site for my background images. I believe this is where my problem is originating from as i am forced to cut & chop this pic into 3 pics to use it and thus it throws my perspectives out of alignment, as the 'top image' picture-size is bigger than the others. Does anyone know of another 'blue-print site' or a solution to this problem. Once again please forgive my naivete and thanks for the time regardless. *Also, i did look thorugh a lot already posted and could only find this 1: http://www.3dcafe.com/asp/tutorials...ngtemplates.asp [applying backgrounds to viewports and modeling according to them.] posted by insect-3DT but it has expired Cheers Baker Last edited by Baker GX; 03-06-2007 at 03:33 PM.. |

www.suurland.com has one.
In fact, so does your little blueprints site. http://www.the-blueprints.com/index....torials/3dmax/

Oh, 1 other thing friend, I am having difficulties because my blue-prints are actually white-prints and the default colour for 'selected objects' is also white.
Saving myself from having to edit all my blue-prints to a dark back-ground color, can I (if possible) change the colour settings in 3ds Max so that when i select an object (in wire-frame) it is high-lighted in some other color than white? |

If you're in wireframe mode, you wont be able to see the blueprints anyway if they are mapped onto a plane..... I believe (I always use background images for my blueprints).
If you want to adjust the images from max, after loading the bitmap, scroll down to the 'output' rollout, and play with the settings (I'd suggest 'invert' before anything else). I hope this helps, my Melbournian inbred friend.

Ooops, I forgot to mention that I have opted to go back to using background images for my blueprints as well
So aside from having to use a paint program to edit my blueprints background color, i'm hoping I can simply change the color that 3ds Max uses to display currently selected objects in wireframe mode. (so i dont get white on white) ![]() You see my isolated Western Australian friend, this is my dilemma ?? |
