Thanks for comments, about more light in the front. I made it fade with a black brush in compositing, because i wanted the focus on another place this time, just to try something out. But ill keep notice, thanks for crits.

I just spent 20-30 minutes reviewing the whole forumn and your work. I must say this is way awesome and inspiring. I have tried a the UVW unwrapping but never stuck with it to figure it out. I was wondering if you knew of any tutorials to help with learning the unwrapping? And again just awesome work!!

Hi Everybody,

Last weekend i spended alot of time on creating a fishing net. I know perhaps i didn't do it the best way, but the way i wanted to make it didn't work. I modelled a fishing net and than wanted to apply the cloth modifier to it to let 3dsmax create the way the fishing net should fall over the table. The fishinf net had to much poly's to do this so i had to find another way. At last i did everything by hand and with FFD box modifier. Another anoying thing is, im getting to the limit of my ram. When i render my scene now with every detail in it its getting 1500 to 1600 of ram from my computer. I only have 2048 so its crashing my scene alot of times when i try to render. I Can make some texture smaller to render better, but thats not the intention. Im creating some models for the window itself and the border, the same for the door. perhaps some fish on the ground and that should be the scene. Also the TV ofcourse, i still have to model and render that. Its really painfull if you want to put in all that detail and than your computer fails you every time. Slows the working progress painfully. Hope this is still a fun update, its not a visual Bomshell, but i wanted to see if this worked in the scene. I find it a nice extra feature to the scene. Makes it more sealike. Hope you like it,

here is the update.

Well it's such a shame that this scene is struggling to render the way you'd like it too. But the fishing net does look impressive and looks very natural to me as it's draped over the driftwood and vase. At first when you mentioned how you'd create your fishing net, I thought about trying splines, however they would be a knightmare to unwrap and texture correctly especially as you'd need to set all the splines into the shape you desired and make the splines editable to apply a good texture. The texturing however as always is nothing short of outstanding though. And the scene is really taking shape nicely.

I'm trying to take on board everything you're doing here as I'm currently in the middle of a scene i've been making myself, I started my scene at the same time as yours but I feel it's not very good as i've done little of no texturing with the scene at all. I really really need to practice, learn & research unwrapping and mapping textures properly, I'm afraid until very recently i've been lazy and simply mapped them flat or cubically as normal and hoped for the best, occasionally adding normal, bump & specular maps into the mix. My scene that i've been working on is an old garage, with some decaying furniture, an old work bench with loads of items on it and then a rusting or restored car, i've not decided if i'm going to have the car rusting up or half way through a restoration. I think I might consider making a W.I.P thread very soon and get some help with it. I've just taken a look at your mini tutorial and that's a big help so thanks for that.

I think (without trying to sound big headed) that i'm a fairly good modeller, i've got several different cars modelled over the past 8 years to choose from including my classic and brand new Mini's i've also got the Audi RSQ, Jaguar MK II, Audi TT & Toyota Rav 4, so i'll have to try some test renders and go from there.

Now back on topic, providing you can get the scene rendered ok Tjerk?

What are your thoughts for the outside of the scene out on deck and such? is there just going to be a decaying decking and the sea or something like that?

Keep going with this one though friend, you're a fantastic digital artist and you're definately gonna have another masterpeice on your hands with this one I can tell.

Until your next update then.

Kind Regards

Classic Gamer

Well i was that too, and sometimes i still am. The fishing net model took me 5 hours to get it the way i liked. Unwrapping took me not really long, i moddeled it in a way i could unwrap it rather easily. I knew what i wanted to do with the outside, but i have to focus on what i can do with the scene, without crashing all the time. And i want to reconsider some things, some objects look amazing, like my first object and the bonsai tree and that stuff, i want them to get enough attention, that they really support the scene. And there has to be some sort of motion in the scene. perhaps a moving cloth near the windows, i have to think about that too. I find this the hardest point in the project. Cause its taking very long and you keep seeing the same objects over and over, its hard to keep yourself exited. But ill hope ill get there.

Post the wip thread of your project when you have the time, ill see if i can be some help. Thank you

Hi all,

today i have to say was a good day. I Hadn't have alot of time on my hands today but i acomplished what i wanted to do. And it was the precise copy of what was in my head. I wanted to give the scene a movement point. In the sunflower fountain i used the Leafs, in The Anchor i used the anchor and in The Chamber of oceans i used a Cloth. Its a Cloth that has a Map on it. You see that there are alot of maps on ships, scrolls or other kinds of methods to provide them the place they want to sail to. So on the cloth, ( Its not visible in the renders ) ( so actually a little easter egg ) There is a Map of Italy. An old map, that is visible on the other maps that i will provide tommorow. I didn't have the time to create the other kinds of maps for you. I don't know if this is something you will like for the scene. But this is finaly im really proud of myself. And the best, i painted everything from scratch with this texture, because i didn't have a good cloth texture. Hope this is something good this time

thanks all for watching, comments always welcome.

great idea but the cloth right now looks weird specially the left edge of it, doesn't look like a cloth hanging on above the window it looks like a big scattered open box flying around

Currently working on the simulation of the cloth. I use Wind Space warps to give the cloth the right volume i want it to have, and to let i look just how it would do in real life.

Hope to update soon
