Viewpoint's 3d model viewer

Viewpoint (http://www.viewpoint.com) have made their 3d model viewer available free for non-commercial use. This is pretty darned funky and downloads very quickly. The viewer works inside Internet Explorer on a PC (though not on a Mac). For an example check out

http://www.perversonality.com/3d/barrel01.html

or

http://www.perversonality.com

It "should" take 30 seconds to download the component on a modem so if someone does this could they post here to say if it is that quick please? The model sizes are very small and, if you click on the second link to my homepage then you will notice that animation is also possible. Funky!

Navigation is:

right-button+drag = zoom in and out
left-button+drag = rotate
both buttons+drag = move

OK, so here's an idea - everyone probably has a list of useful free apps, utilities and so on that they use or are aware of, so how about people post links to them here. This is not an advertising thread, just an awareness thing

Next one from me would have to be a free modeller:

http://www.wings3d.com

The intrude feature is particularly cool and the forums are full of useful tips and helpful people.

do they have to be 3d related?????

if not, then i suggest you not add to the cause of world destruction by using real player. Please do your computer a favor and use winamp. www.winamp.com

This has been a public service announcement.

The more you know.

Did you know that over 10,000 poeple are infected with real player every week?

Is it me or is the download link impossible to find? There is so much other data on the view point site I don't know where to go. I have been looking for a free one of thoughs for months now, so any help for donwloading would be great. God I feel stupid. Nice find though.

[edit] I just checked out that wings3d, it looks like a solid little program. I'll have to check it out. Mabey tell my teacher about it. I know of a few good, free apps, let me dig up the links. [/edit]

My free app submitions.

Acme Brick: A sweet program for creating randome brick and masonry. The exported images are easy to make into seamless textures.

Fraps: Alows you to see your frames per second in any 3d game or view port. It also alows you to capture video and screen shots.

MilkShape 3D: I'm sure most of you know about this one.

Hmmm, yeah, the site is a little tricky to navigate... Here's a better link:

http://www.viewpoint.com/index1.html?dev&5-0.html

This will take you to the dev centre that includes the Tools link on the left.
