PS3 or 360?! Going nuts here!

My opinion... get a wii and a 360
PS3 doesn't really have anything good going for it that won't also be on the 360.
And wii... it has Super Smash Bros Brawl coming in December as well as Mario galaxy coming soon!

I have all 3 systems Josiah so don't this the wrong way but here are my thoughts on your last post.



Rainbow 6 Vegas: Check out the gametrailers.com review for the ps3. They say that (even though it came out 6 months after the xbox version) it has worse graphics and more lag. I mean....................come on. when is PS going to start outputting the graphics and gameplay that they so promised?

It's the same exact game, with LESS lag. 360 RV6 is a dieing game, PS3 RV6 is just blooming.


They took out the rumble feature to add a 6 axis. Crap crap crap. Not a single game incorporates that feature well at all.If you want 6 axis, get a Wii.


Well sure you can not like the 6 Axis but the Rumble... Show me one professional gamer that plays with Rumble. If you need rumble to know whether or not someone is shooting at you... then you know. 6 Axis is supposed to be pretty cool for little features like in Uncharted, MGS4, and of course Lair.

everyones got preference, having 3 different platforms doesn't really change it if you enjoy some types of games over others. So in short everyone is wrong or everyone is right, either way each is to their own style

The PS3 yoou get in Europe is a downgraded version of the PS3 you get in USA or asia... weaker processor, less backwards compatability.. just so you know dude..

I haven´t seen any games which make me go "OOo!! I´m gonna buy a PS3 next payday" yet, but several on the 360 (which have all been pointed out on this thread already)... Wii is fun for like, 2 weeks.. then it gets boring (word on the street).. eBay´s full of used Wii´s for example... and the Wii isn´t all that powerful.. and do we really need yet another Zelda or Mario game?

so my vote goes for to the 360...

Really? Hmmm I've heard something about some differences between US and European versions but they were mostly regarding online gaming or something like that...mmmm paying twice the original price (here in Estonia that is) just to get a downgraded version...nice

Anyways,I received a call today and was told that Gears of War that I ordered and payed for,wouldn't be delivered because they don't have it at the moment...Awesome,no 360's,no Gears of War and no normal prices even for a downgraded PS3...man I love this country!

It says here that all the 360's got a price cut,but since nothing really happened here in Estonia when the same thing was announced for PS3 (the price didn't change at all lol),I don't think I'll get XBox for less than it's current price here (around 450$ for the Core System)... So I was wondering,do you guys know any good and reliable UK online stores that sell game consoles and can deliver purchased items overseas? I don't want to order form USA 'cause I'll probably get it in a couple of weeks...I've found a couple of good stores on the net,but the delivery services work only in UK. Oh and the price is just great there: ~400$ for the 360 Premium.

Yes!!! Yes we need another Zelda and Mario game!!! Those games are pioneers... they helped bring us all the other awesome games Wii have today. (Yeah... that's right... I said it) I bought my LoZ: Twilight Princess before I even had a Wii, and it was well worth waiting for. Truly an awesome adventure game for sure! (I personally think it's the best of the Zelda series.) I can also play all my Gamecube games too! Mario Kart: Double Dash and Super Smash Bros. Melee never get old! Although they're likely to collect some dust when the new Mario Kart with online game play and the new Smash Bros. Brawl are released!

I also have a PS3 that I bought off someone who's not too bright for my old PS2 and $350.00! I lucked out in that in so many ways it's not even funny. And I'm glad I have it, not one game I've bought or played on it has had any type of slow down or lag at all. Here's a list of games I've played:

Add to that the fact that all the old PS1 games that they're making available online can be played on your PS3 as well as your PSP!!! Plus it upscales my PS2 games so I can play them in 1080... Tomb Raider: Anniversary was such a sight to see. And of course the Blu-Ray... let's not forget to mention that. The movie 300 in 1080 is so so pretty! Not to mention free online play. I could go on and on... I'm way too happy with this monster on my entertainment center.

Anyway, enough of my fanboyism here. I hope you get your 360 soon, and that you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for it either. Enjoy the darkside, just watch it with those ring of death... they can put an eye out!

Even though I haven't played any Zelda's,a lot of people say it's a really great game.But still,I'm not into this kind of games...

Anyways, I'm even more confused than when I was creating this thread.At first I thought there were about 50% of the 360 owners who got that "Three lights of death",then,after some reading,I thought the amount was slightly bigger,but now,after almost a day of more reading,it looks like the number would be something like this- 98%. I mean come on,reading on other forums something like "hey guys,I've just received my 5th Xbox 360" or "cool,I've got those red light for the second time now" isn't fun when you want to buy that console.Heck,I've just watched a music video about the "ring of death"...funny stuff by the way Though,all those games for the 360 really make me want to buy it :\ In fact,I could buy the Premium with Gears and Oblivion tomorrow...Oh and do you know about those rumors that MGS 4 is going for the 360? Another thing that gets me confused is a TV set.I thought playing on SDTV would be just fine.How wrong I was... People say that playing on SDTV is like playing a PC game on the lowest resolution.So it looks like I'd need to spend even more money :\ I've already found a nice TV/monitor,though it isn't HD ready, but on some other forums people say that everything (games...) look just great on it via HD-VGA cable.

Wouldn't be surprised If I won't buy any console ending up sitting in front of my crappy laptop playing some crappy games

P.S. And I still don't think that I'd rather buy a PS3 due to its price...

Blu-Ray is a new HD format along with HD-DVD. They both have the capacity to hold a movie at 1080p resolution with uncompressed audio. The main difference between the two from a basic standpoint is that Blu-Ray has a higher capacity than HD-DVD. For HD-DVD, that means capacities of 15GB and 30GB; for Blu-Ray, it's 25GB and 50GB. For games this makes a difference in the fact that Blu-Ray can hold more information and therefore in the future be utilized with less compression. (Although if I recall correctly, the 360 only uses standard DVDs for it's games anyway.) Other than that is the movie standpoint... which is nothing but a big format war. It's not worth getting into an arguement over who will win though... I personally don't care. As long as there is a PS3, there will be Blu-Ray disks simply because that's the format for their games. Microsoft sided with HD-DVD as an add-on drive just to fight against Sony.

Now the point about using a SDTV brings up a good point. Either way you go, PS3 or 360... you're going to want to invest in a HDTV sooner or later. Mainly because you're going to want to get the most out of your system. I had my PS3 on an EDTV (capable of 480p) but in the end I broke down, saved my pennies, and bought a cheap LCD HDTV from Akai. By cheap I mean price... I think it was $550.00 It was a great investment and my games look so much better with the HDMI cable.

As for the 360... I've heard a lot of horror stories about the red light error. Although I thought they would have a handle on it by now. I'm glad I'm not one of the many people who have had it happen to them... nothing could be more frustrating I'm sure. I have no horror stories to share with my PS3... it's a happy system.

I do see your point in not wanting to get a PS3 where you live though. That price is way to high. It's too bad you couldn't order one from somewhere online and save some money. I've never heard of a post office charging taxes on something delivered in the mail. That's weird. What if you could get it delivered through UPS or DHL or some other delivery service? I would check out your options before making a final decision.

Oh... and how could you say your not into games like Zelda... if you've never played any of them ever?!? You don't know what you're missing!

I still stand strong beside my decision to purchase a PS3. Microsoft is turning all the cool 360 games over to PC, and since I'm always in the mood to upgrade my PC, having a 360 just doesn't make sense. And I'm really dig'n my Bluetooth BD Remote.

Oh yeah, and for reliability, my son dropped a penny into my BluRay drive. The thing still runs great. So.... (I did pee my pants that day, though.)

I pretty much don't care about those HD movie formats so I can live without it As for the games,I think the majority of them will still go on those standard DVD's during the next couple of years...Could be wrong,though...We'll see

As for the TV,I think I can afford 550$,but I've found a really nice monitor at Play.com today and it's a bit cheaper.At first I was thinking of Samsung LE19R71BX 19", but like I said,it's not a HD ready (even though you'll get a nice picture using HD-VGA cable with the 360).But now I'm thinking of getting LG 22LS4R 22".It is HD ready and much bigger than that Samsung.It's not a TV,though,but I wasn't planning to get one in the first place.It's just that LE19R71BX looked quite attractive and was the cheapest TV/monitor I could find here in Estonia that appeared to support HD formats (Samsung messed up a little and in many stores it still says that it IS HD ready...)

By the way,about those HD formats.There are 420i,720i,1080i,420p,720p and 1080p.So what's the difference between those "i" and "p"? "p" is the highest format,right? but does it mean that 720p will look better than 1080i? :X

First I want to say Congratulations for not using your parents money for personal uses like buying a game system. It's great that you're working hard for your system and you'll appreciate it more that way too!

The difference between i and p is that i stands for 'interlaced' and p stands for 'progressive' scan modes. i means that when it draws the image on your screen, it draws every other line every frame. It does this so fast that it appears to be a complete image, but it's not. p means that it draws every line every frame. Since it draws every line at every frame, you get the complete image every frame. This leads to a bit of a crisper image. Technically, this means that yes, 720p may appear a bit clearer than 1080i... but viewed at the proper distances, there's hardly any noticeable difference at all. That's why it's important to consider the space you have when choosing an HDTV. People buy 50" screens and then sit 2 feet away from them and complain that they see pixels. Duh! You're not supposed to sit that close to a screen that size. That monitor you linked to seems to be pretty good. It has HDMI, so at least when you're ready, you can go HD with little stress.

As for the Blu-Ray thing. It's attractive to me simply because it has to be. All PS3 games are on the Blu-Ray format. If I want to play the newest games on my system... I have to support the format... pretty sneaky huh? Plus, it has some awesome features. While you're watching a movie, you can bring up the scene selection menu without leaving the movie. Then you can scroll through, find what you're looking for and Bam!!! You're there instantly! DVD will be around for a while longer... but it's going to give way to one of the HD formats sooner or later.

Oh... and Mii making a suggestion to get a Wii instead?!? Mii? Do that to you? Nah... I would never stoop so low as to have hidden meaning in my text. Wii as Nintendo fanboys have more honor than that... Wii would never do such a thing. But I will say that Wii are loyal to our Gamecube on steroids... I can't speak for everyone else... but Mii personally would tell you not to count out the Zelda series of games. There aren't many series that can say they've been around for over 20 years!

I just had a friend of my sister over and he brought his 360 along and the damn thing didn't even play a single game right because of the overheating problem..
