Rue' shammpoo
Hello all, been away for a while. I've done all kind of techniques painting wise to see which suits my concept style the most. I want it to be fast and with high contrasts. I've done aquarell for a while, but it takes too long to make your painting very dark and still have good nuances. So I aggain barrowed a wacom from my dad, previously i did not liked it because it enhanced my movements(made them bigger on the screen) and I could not turn my tablet arround to draw easy circles or other thingies.
Anyways I got over the turning part, I taught myself to draw in any direction without having to turn the paper. And I also did some tweaking so that my wacom does not make my movement bigger on my screen. I'm going to serriously attempt to make my first digital painting here, I've done some sphere's to introduce myself to some strokes but now it's time for the real deal. Here's a sketch I made, very lean guy who has an enourmous gun(which will be bigger then on the sketch ) and has a constructive suit on to help him carry the weight arround. I can really use advice about brushes or depth in a painting. I've been using Photoshop for over 3 years though painting is a whole different thing. ![]()

good start rue!, keep blocking out the whole picture and then you can work on refining all the areas.

haha , it can be fun
.. it's important to get the base colors in there so you can see how the image looks. after you've got everythign blocked in and the colors in there for high lights and shadows with big brushes, the image can be finished even before starting details. it can look really nice.. then you can decide how refined you actually want the image to be.

I think I really want to start working on the lightning now;
I want to merge all colored layers, then tweak the shapes a bit better, and then start to shade.. ![]()

The skin is kind of hard to to with the hard brush.. it gets a really mechanical look instead of organic..
![]() EDIT Hmm I'm not sure about the style, I've made things with photoshop that look almost real. But this is concept art I make, concept is only an idea or what ever more you make of it. Simply the suggestion of the colours on this character and his mood should be enough, and I also like a rough style to it.. also gives the benefit that it's finished much quicker, in which case I can start on my next piece Think I will be spending the next couple of days tweaking brushes and layer styles to get that clear and rough look, but still get the impression of what is going on in the painting. It's way too much work + a bit useless to finish a concept work if someone will redo it in 3D or an other medium anyway.. Isn't it?

Hehe no problemo M_Cederstrom.
Basicly, I just got myself an upgrade from A6 Graphite wacom tablet to an A4 Intuos3 ![]() ![]() ![]() And I got myself 2 CD's about Corel Painter, and the program it self. Really cool stuff, so I'm learning it and trying stuff out. I'll be posting in a bit and attempting my character in Painter soon. ![]()
