Opinions on realsoft 3d versus other products.

Im using Bryce 5 right now and thinking its time to move on. Have some experience with 3d studio max at work but only mildly hobby related.

I own Carrara but even the minimal use at work with max i found it cludgy and barely use it.

So it comes now to the point, hows realsoft compared to something like carrara? Is its render engine to be compared with lets say maya 4.5 and bundled mental ray?

The price of realsoft 3d is just barely withing my pricerange, where as Maya or 3dstudio max is past the price im willing to pay (maybe haha).

Any opinions?
