Vehicle dump

Thought i'd just throw all my current vehicle wips into one thread too keep things tidy.
All models are to be normal mapped and havn't been optimized yet.
Nissan Silvia s14a - this is the hi res mesh for normal mapping. currently 212,748 tris.
Vauxhall Astra - too many US police cars around so i've gone for the old school british squadie car, currently 5380 tris.
Ford Transit T280 SWB - on hold until i get time to get more refs, requires lots of optimising, currently 8792 tris.
Renault Clio V6 - havn't decided whether i will normal map this yet or keep it old school, currently 1996 tris.

Please crit away on anything. I'll jump between models so updates when I get them.

You're right, there's too many polies. Unsteady Teddy, your models are quite good, very smooth and well made, but I think you have a lot of unneeded geometry. I know nothing of game models, but you could easily strip away about 25% of the geometry on that second car's bumpers, without losing detail.

Also, you have a decent topology going, but I think that it's too much like a grid, and not quite as efficient as it could be. Meaning no offense, your models are good, and bear excellent resemblance to their real counterparts.

Keep it up.

Been working solely on the Astra cop car, trying to get the modelling finished as quickly as possible. Not happy with the headlights at the minute. Will have to keep working at those. Not too worried about the wasted tris. They could easily be removed if necessary but i'll probably leave the mesh pretty much as is for now. Interior to come next. Need to decide whether to model the seams or experiment with a normal map, and whether I want it rigged ( ie. doors, bonnet, boot etc ), undercarriage and engine.
Currently 13,224 tris.

Unless anyone flags something up, i'm gonna crack into unwrapping next.

Throw any crits / comments at me.

NOTE: I had to resize the images cos they were too awesome. Check my website for some full res piccie wiccies.

Teddy your models are really faithful to the real things, keep it up. Do you have a poly count in mind? I would say the center portion of the seats on the Astra look a little low on the poly count in comparison to the rest of the model (including the other internal parts). It's a bit noticeable from the rear but I suppose it won't be shown often?

Looking forward to the texturing

Brilliant, accurate, tidy modelling. Astra looks great. Reminds me of The Getaway.
XBOX360 and PS3, you'd be safe with about 6-7k polys, if that's what you're aiming for, depending on the population.

the door handles and fuel cap on the astra (where you have the tris) are a bit less good than the rest of it. I think it'd be worth having another look at those areas to see if you can clean up a little
