My Cartoon Character

About a month ago I had to change my 3d Software from Max to Maya. After loads of tutorials i´m now starting a new project in Maya. Its a complete project from scratch. Modeling, Rigging, Animating, and a final Animation.
I found the sketch of the Character on google images, and started modeling 2 days ago. A friend of mine, DahWan met on threedy forums, will help me in modeling of the scene, and the story!

hey, It's seems like you are getting more
comfortable with Maya already.
A question, how are you going to animate the eyes?
I always had that doubt, when the eyes are not
spherical or symetric.
It could be animated maps, but I want to know
if there is another way.

I think i will make it with clusters..i assign two textures to the eyes. one black for the pupil, and want white for the eye. The black textures will only be assign to a perfect round wireframe in the eye.and then i will create a cluster for the "black-vertices" and parent the cluster to a box which then will represent the "eye-move" controller.
hope it helped.
If that is not working, i will create a black polygon, and move that around..In the pixar movie they manahed to do it too...So i give my best

Character is now rigged finally...that was some work! Now i have to bind it, and paint weights...thats also alot to do..
then facial rigging starts, but that is always fun, i like it
