aussieinrome... you have posted the exact same image on the herbivore dinosaur challenge... and that image was already part of an animation you did, made before the dino challenges even started. I might be wrong, but I think the purpose of these challenges is to respond with something created specially for it, from scratch, and not recycling an old render or animation, even if it's made by you...
From what I have seen on you animations and your website, you seem to be a talented and creative modeler/animator, and the fact is it would be much fun and simple for you to get an original design for these challenges.

I wasn't under the perception you couldn't use characters you've done recently... If that's the case - I'm out of this comp.

I believe there should be some kind of manifest from the 3DT staff in order to clear this issue out. That's just my reading and my interpretation of what the challenges are about, but I might be wrong. If so, my apologies
I must add that there's nothing personal on this, aussieinrome.

Don't worry, I thought it would be ok, we'll see... Take a look at my Hyena character, I was working on it at time time of the Hyena challenge, but I wasn't aware of it - if I was I would have entered...

Well, he made the image for the Herbivore contest and was told he could not use it, though I feel it was appropriate. The 3DT staff member (Lynette I believe) told him to post it here. I don't think he should be disqualified from both competitions. Especially since it's obvious he put work into his piece. My two cents anyway.

I guess it should be ok to re-use old mesh if it's not the main character in the entry, or if it's considerably modified for a new concept, but this is not the case here. The whole composition is the same from the great -awesome- animation in your site aussieinrome...
Anyways, if this kind of issue was not established in the rules before so I don't think that you should be 'penalized' now, maybe some from the 3DT staff, as DaddyDoom said, should clarify this situation...isn't it?

Yup... I guess this is just a matter of clarifying things up.

Anyway, here's my starter. I skipped the concept sketch this time and went straight to modeling. Started with a cube, to the tail, neck and so forth...

He will be holding this large plate with a Dino-Size Hamburger (probably a Manburger), and he'll be using a cooking hat and an apron saying "The Cook Bites".

Ugga!

Here's an update.
I'm not happy with some stuff... So I still have to consider if I move along with this or not.
