What is the best way to determine scale?
What is the best way to determine sizing of all of your objects so everything looks right?

With setting proper measure units i suppose. In 3DSM, Customize>Units setup. If You already have a scene, You can use tape measure tool to determine size of objects(Create>Helpers>Tape Measure). Check help for more info...

I'm also talking in terms of everything being in proper size in relation with everything else in your scene. If you are making a building, you need to make sure that the proportions will match with the windows, doors, and so on.
I sometimes make a small rectangle and use that as a person to help me determine proportions. Is this good, or is there another way? |

Yeah i usually work in similar way only that i use biped (create>systems>biped) for scaling. I than set the skeleton usually to 1,8 meter and put it in the scene to compare stuff.

Agreed with ZekO,
I also try to do this like that. In the beginning I had the same problem. But after a few try outs, I will come clear. Good luck. Greetz, Novak

A basic shape to compare to is good, but if you're going to do any physical light simulations for your rendering, it will save you a tremendous amount of time if you build everything to real-world scale from the beginning.
Otherwise you'll have to do a ton of re-renders and calculations to figure out why one light bulb is illuminating an entire floor of a building.
