Renault Megane II

Hello,
here are some renders of my last model, the new Renault Megane.
I'd like to have some critics about this work.
I'm testing some photorelistic renders without using GI, radiosity or other tricks with compositing. This images are shot directly from Lightwave (except for the signature, of course) without any post processing. Hope I'll make an animation as soon as possible.
Bye all

Good!

Really good model, why don't u try other colors? Are you sure about that fold over the "engine cover" (i don't know english name). Maybe you can made lights with more trasparency. Can we see the wireframe too?

Veramente un bel modello, perchè non provi anche altri colori? Sei sicuro di quella piega sopra il cofano? Mi pare anche che i fanali siano un po' più trasparenti (specie quelli davanti). Ci farai vedere anche la versione wireframe?

Here are the wireframes. Which fold do you refer to? Maybe the corner of the "cover" where it joins the front and the headlight? I think I missed this error while working on the finishing touches, thanks for your note. In the original car the headlights are completely transparent, as you can see on the photo I posted.

I think you have use Splines to model this car. Is that right?

I used almost nurbs (subdivision surface) for all the model. Some particulars are modeled with polygons.

Truely beautiful work you have there, although the car is but ugly. (i mean the actual conept of the car is horrible). But one error that i see is int he first pic the front right tire looks like it is floating. There is no shadow directly under the tire, so i appears as it is floating.

Unhappy

Yeah you're right, I used a shadow map with too low resolution (my athlon with 256 mb of ram is becoming a little old ).

I see many people don't like this car, next time I'll model a Ferrari Enzo, is there anyone who hate that car?

Great work. I was gonna mention that front tire, but someone did already. So what is your lighting setup then? You said you're using no GI? Not even HDRI? How many lights to you have? Where are they? Could we see an in program shot of the scene to see how you set up everything? I'm always looking for ways to avoid time-consuming GI.

Thanks again for the critics, I'm making some improvement to the scene that will be precious for future works.
The scene setup is this: One area light for the main illumination (I shot a photo of another car in the same point), and three spotlights for simulating the diffuse shadow.
You can take a render with hdri, so you have a reference for shadows and environment, and then work on the spotlights and the area to match the lightning with the radiosity solution. This is good for animation, but keep attention to the shadowmap, they need a lot of memory to work correctly. As the front tyre problem, my "home" pc has 256 of ram and suffers a lot with a shadow map of 1024. My "office" pc with 1 gb of ddr ram "eats" map of 2048 and the problem does not persist. I'll show something new as soon as possible.
