December 2007 - Yona - Day to night
Yay, my first challange!
![]() I started by darkening it and changing the color, to see how it looks Then I softened the shadows a bit to make it seem more like moonlight This is it so far... |

I like that you haven't changed the orange hint in the walls, which is more realistic ![]()

Ok, all the lights are on now!
![]() Now I just have to find the best technique to add light pouring out of the windows... I also started the sky replacement, though I'm not sure if it's dark enough. |

![]() I darkened the sky (is it good now?) and added stars. I'm thinking about adding clouds, but I'm not sure how... do you have any tips adman? ![]() I also started painting in the light from the windows, like here: ![]() |

Your lights are great! really impressive....looking very natural. regarding the clouds. I took some pictures of clouds (or download some) roughly put them in place and colour adjusted them, then merged them and started to smudge them into one another. this way you can control how they will turn out. I also burned them in places to add more shape...... but everyone has different techniques, hope this helps you.

Thanks adman, I'll work on the clouds.
![]() Big update! I finished all the windows, and added stars. I still have a long time until the challenge is over, so I might try an extension... I forgot to actually post the sky last update ( ) so, is it dark enough now?Closeups: Any comments? ![]() |

The lights are great, and so is the details. Looks like a very tight competition here. Got lots of great entries. Just one comment, nah, more of a question, Aint the lights and shadows a bit too perfect? God bless and This one really rocks!

Thanks for the comment!
![]() I know what you mean about the shadows being too perfect... any ideas on how to fix it? Maybe giving the light some texture? |

yup, i agree with guitarsimo80, blur would do fine or maybe a "little" earlier decay.(Just a few suggestions) but since you've mentioned giving the light some texture, then maybe it could do better. And oh forgot to mention, Dang, you're good with the details.

Thanks Nocturn!
![]() Here's another update. Mostly details, which you can't really see in this size, but some other things too. I'm still experimenting with making the lights less "perfect". I haven't decided yet if I'll change the sky or leave it like this... a clear night ![]() Comments always welcome! - Yona
