Brass Microscope
Hi all,
I am new to the forum. This is my first posting in the Completed Work section. I have viewed some of the images here, and there are some very talented folks posting their renderings. I am looking forward to becoming an active participant in this community About the image, the microscope is pretty simple, the reason behind creating this image was more of a challenge for me to create a brass texture from scratch. Modeled and rendered in MAX 5.1 Cheers, Tegmo Last edited by tegmo; 08-04-2003 at 07:50 AM.. |

V nice work, good modelling, I like the Brass V much
![]() Just a suggestion, it's probably too clean. A brass microscope has been around for ages, and its age should be reflected in the material. Some variation in the surface would work well. Some oxidation (or whatever you call that slightly green stuff), tarnishing, fine scratches....Carrying that a bit further, perhaps you could adjust your specular and reflection maps to echo that surface variation and add realism to your render. Can we see some closeup shots? |

Nice one.
But I agree it looks overly perfect. Even a new 'right out the box' microscope wouldn't be that perfect.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the compliments and the suggestion regarding the need for imperfections. I thought about that too, but I really was simply focusing on how to make a perfect brass texture. As for an environment, not sure if I plan on doing anything else with this one. Cheers, Tegmo |
