Hydraulic Pistons

I am having trouble with this piston tutorial when they get to the part about "binding to follow object." And things having to do with the sliding joint limitations. If anyone with more knowledge could read it and tell me pretty step-by-step how to do it, I would be much obliged. Or if anyone has any suggestions how to make hydraulic pistons, please, I would be in favor.

Here's the address for the tutorial
