I'm IN!
Havent been on any forums off late so this looked like a good time to pick sides!.... ....I'm gonna need all the help i can get cos I havent been game modeling in years now and I have absolutely no clue what the current trends are!..I'm plannin to work on a female Earth/Rock Invoker. Damn am i procrastinating!
Heres a quick update sketch and bio. I have a more detailed sketch on paper but will put that up after a little more digital refining. I'm goin for a female earth/stone invoker. I havent decided her race yet so a lot of ambiguity there. BIO: To save her clan for complete annihilation this young girl sacrificed herself to undergo a long and painful ritual to gain control over an ancient power. As part of the ritual, her arms were chopped off and her upper body mummified. She was blinded and an ancient artifact was seered into her forehead. She was then buried alive for a 100 years! At the end of the century she broke out of her misery with the new found power of the planet which had completely embraced her. Just a pale shadow of the physical shape she was in in her youth she now holds the power to control any ground that she sets foot on. I'm hoping to show a totally anorexic entity with her arms amputated and wrapped in bandages.Shes got a pretty large amulet-ish artifact on her forehead and is completely blind. She uses stones and soil to form what look like hands or to form a weapon or anything she pleases....what u can see in the thumbnail would be the forearms built of small stones....held together by that bluish energy thing. I'm hoping my next sketch is clearer ![]() Would like to know which of the thumbnails u guys find most interesting ![]() and yeah...any suggestions on what race she should be from would be great......human and elvish would be boring imo...i'm thinkin maybe tauren.....what say? ![]()

Wow that is pretty sweet story I love it!!
I would say that maybe she shouldn't be Tauren, I mean that is a pretty intense ritual I would say that would have to come from a race that is a lot more primal and ferral you know, something more towards and Orc or a Ogre style person you know. Or even a Dwarf! |

1. Poor girl
such cruel torture.2. my favourite is the third shot, its more...action-ish and just looks the best. 3. im sitting here being lazy and i cannot be bothered to check, but you say she's an earth/stone invoker - combinations are not allowed (i.e. she has to be earth or stone). Then again, im not sure whether stone is a separate category to earth.

deathcab1: yes...poor girl!....but difficult times require difficult measures eh!... ...i've combined the first and 3rd to a fair degree...hope u like it ..and about earth/stone...thats one category like fire/lava or light/holy.....so i guess it'll hold![]() well here a quick concept sketch......my artwork sux so a lot of stuff might look wierd but i'm hoping this with the text above will make sense together .....i'm hoping to add more accessories and tattoos and body paint while texturing the model later.......i'll be givin this artwork a couple of more passes before i call it done...i'm hoping to lock it down in a day or two....would love to get some feedback right now![]()

If her hands are chopped off, how does she move things? Her pony tails or legs?

I dig the concept it is looking good but I think you should really go with more mummfied look on her and maybe some bandages over her eyes you know and the jewel poking through! her arms maybe you should almost put like leather armor over it or something like maybe the knew what was gonna happen and thus put together some protection for her. I would do a lot more stone for her arms maybe you know really show more of a structure to it you know like it is almost really part of her now. Well that is my suggestion you don't have to follow it.

Nice story and sweet color concept. You came with the quickness with that one. I would have to agree with rych on the arm/ rock structure. I'd say if any thing let it hover just far enough from the shoulder to notice the detachment. I can't wait to see final concept and model.

.....now that i look at it...the sketch does look kinda "empty" overall.....will have to juice up the design a little more ....updates comin soon!(there goes my sleep!)

bah! I really love your style, and great idea for the concept too! the armour you have hinted in the sketch paint over look interesting, be great to see the sketches fleshed out a bit to show us what you plan to do

Ah, you're concept art does it's job well enough....it's only really needed to guide you in the creation process.
It's tough when you look at other threads and so many people here (and in other forums), are killer concept artists...but ultimately it's the model/texture that's going to be presented, so while a good concept is important, you don't need a beautiful concept to get a beautiful model.

thanks guys...yeah...i'll get crackin on this as soon as i get home.....but i do agree with u puck...i dont think i'll be shooting for a concept too detailed or really goodlooking...cos i like to have a lot of freedom when i get to the modeling stage!
