Crazy Lines
Why is it that my lines always get tangled like in the picture below. And should I worry about them affecting me later, or do I just ignore them since I extrude and everything in my edit mesh, and fix in meshsmooth using vertex mode?
I'm thinking its because I conformed the object to the leg in meshsmooth vertex, and not in edit mesh vertex. Is this why or is it something else?

Yeah, you don't want to do your actual modelling in meshsmooth. do that in edit mesh. But your lines are tangled because we can see the ones in the back of the model aswell as the ones that are facing us. What you need to do is configure your display settings to "Backface Cull" and they will be hidden.
Sometimes it's easier to apply a material to an object and in the object properties (right click on the object) turn the visibility of the object down to about 0.6 that way you can still work with the wireframe, whilst also being able to see the actual polygon surfaces of the model. |

Thnxs for the reply and the suggestions, Though, i'm a bit confused. When you say "What you need to do is configure your display settings to "Backface Cull" and they will be hidden" what they are you referring too. The color? and on the visiblity part, I can't seem to find it. All I saw was the control for Renderable Visiblity. Sorry if it sounds childish. Thnx

if u right click and properties on the object u can -
turn the "backface cull" on and off on - u will not see the lines "behind" the object off - u will just play around with a box with 3x3 segs, and u'll c what happens. and the visibilty? that's the rendering visiblity u found. if u turn it down to 0.6 or whatever, u'll have a see-through material, that might be easier to work with. Thnxs for clearing it up.
Now for some more crazy lines. Just wondering what the blue streaks in the picture below are. Anyone know?

those blue streaks don't look natural to me. try restarting max and see if they are still there. maybe its some tool you're using or what not but i've never seen anything like that.
as for your comments on a tangled mesh. well as your geometry gets more and more complex sometimes the meshes become very daunting to look at. however i find that over time you get to be able to handle bigger and bigger meshes without breaking a sweat. good luck -k |

Well, they've happened on occasion and only appear on random magnifications.

In max, when i'm in edge mode, I try slecting something, but it doesn't display in red as an outline. Also, how would I turn off the dotted line that crosses the face. See Picture below.
I know I posted it in both Annoying and this one, But I realized this one seems to get more attention, and I like when I get my questions answered. Anyway picture below.

resize your screenshots dude. no need to take up the bandwidth and space.
as for your lines, in the object properties you can turn on and off edges only. you can also set edges to be visible or invisible in edit mesh mod. -k |

Well the first tip helped, but the second.. I think it was because I was unclear. See, whenever I used to select something in the wireframe, the wires would turn red on whatever I selected, but now it doesn't. I think it was because I pushed a key that I didn't realize. It shows it in the picture below, the red outline.
