Please help me decied which Wacom Tablet to buy.
Ok, I recently started 2d painting in Photoshop, and now, I'm hooked. Therefore I need to get a wacom a.s.a.p., but I can't decide which to get.
The online shop I am buying from got four different wacoms which are shown under. My question is: is it really worth buying the most expensive? I have never used these things and don't know if I should buy the best. And if you are shocked by the prices, it's because they are taken from a Norwegian shop:mad:. Well anyway here they are: 1: Wireless Design and Work Tablet 100 Price: 60 bucks Dimensions: 23.4 cm x 23.2 cm x 1 cm (draw area: 10.2 cm x 7.6 cm) ![]() 2: Wireless Design and Work Tablet 200 Price: 75 bucks Dimensions: 27 cm x 21 cm x 0.9 cm (draw area: 15.2 cm x 11.4 cm) ![]() 3: Wireless Design and Work Tablet 400 Price: 125 bucks Dimensions: 31 cm x 28.7 cm x 0.9 cm (draw area: 20.3 cm x 15.2 cm) ![]() 4: Wireless Design and Work Tablet 1200 usb Price: 140 bucks Dimensions: 40 cm x 35 cm x 1.2 cm (draw area: 30.5 cm x 22.7 cm) ![]() Oh, I wasn't sure wether to put it in the Finished 2d Art forum or here, so I just picked this, so sorry if it is in the wrong forum. hmm it doesn't look like any of those are wacom tablets
i got a 6x8 wacom intuos 2 and it was very pricey, i think around 400 bucks. its amazing though. i guess my advice is this, i'd go for pressure sensitivity before i'd go for area. obviously the best is to have hi sensitiviy and a large area to work with, but at work we got these graphire 2's with 512 levels of sensitivity and they are 4x5 inches work space. the intuos's have 1024 levels and i can feel the difference. i used to have this old 6x8 tablet by aiptek that was really a peice of junk compared to either of those wacom tablets. the graphire 2's are about 70-100 bucks, they are all 4x5, i'd recommend those any day over some no name company's tablet. -k |

Oh, I thought wacom was just what people called these things (The other tablets are from Thrust or somethin').
Anyway, thanks for the tip kuman, 400 bucks is a bit much, so I think I will get this Graphire2 thingy (I cheked the price at www.Graphire2.com), 100 dollars is affordabe, but they only shipped to U.S. I'll search around abit to see if I can find some in Eureope who sells these things. |

You can also check out www.amazon.co.uk. They might have something and the shipping usually takes no more than a week.
Also check the response time between your wireless tablet and the PC, cause from what i know of wireless micem they are a little slow to respond to commands.

I've got a graphire2 and I'm really happy with it, I bought it in Sweden so there shouldn't be a problem to find one in a store in Norway
edit: I did a search and found this: http://www.parakon.no/graphire2.htm Last edited by bjotto; 14-04-2003 at 03:04 PM.. |
