Aribeth
Hey, its been a while since my last post, hopefully ill get back into it after schools finished. Anyways, heres a little update of that "joan of ark" charecter I was modeling from the tutorial. I stopped following the tutorial after I finished the body, and modeled the armor after "Aribeth" from Neverwinter Nights. Heres the old thread where i had the body W.I.P.
WIP Anyways, I think she's prettymuch finished, (Im rendering 2 sequences right now for my demo reel, so she better be ). Whaddya think?

Nice,
Sorry... but i have a few suggestions that might improve it :P -Arms Maybe give them a texture and define some muscles? and the inside of the elbow could do with more definition in my opinion... -Give the gloves a more leathery looking texture (with lots of creases etc) -Also make the armour a bit less plastic looking...maybe a few small dents and scratches and slightly less shineeness/reflectiveness? -The necklece could perhapse be a bit lighter, and maybe have some sort of glint on it? Cool model though, the face looks realy great ![]() -And i realy like the sword too... try make the armour look more matalic like the sword does if you can ![]() Last edited by Thorgrim; 15-04-2003 at 01:52 PM.. |

Hi PyrOmonkey!
Nice model. I think that you've got problems with texturing. I think that 50 percent of a model quality is in textures (even more). Maybe some procedural texture for the skin, and add a rusty and worn style for the armor and clothes. Try a GI engine for add realism. Just my opinion. ![]()

Hi Pyro, this is my first post here on 3d total
. Jus wanted to say i like the model...nice job. The only suggestion i have would be to fix up around the elbow area. Other than that, nice job!

Great!, thats more like it, hehe.
hey fabrizzzio, I havent seen you around here in ages, where ya been? .As for the arms, I know what you mean, I had a lot of trouble with that, I tried to use "skin" in max to move the arms into the position theyre in, but there was something very messed up with the weight painting, so i eventually had to pose the arms manually, so they still look a little messy around the elbows. fabrizzzio, i did try GI using brazil, but the opacity maps for the hair made it nearly impossible...over 3 hours for one 500x320 frame! As it is now, its just a skylight and an area light. Ive been thinking of making a scene sometime in the future, at that point Ill focus on the lighting, and mabe replace the hair with Shag hair. As for textures, I still dont know what kind of scene she may be in, if it were a battle, id rough up the textures somewhat. Anyways, thanks again. This was my first real try at creating a human type charecter, so ill keep the other comments in mind when creating the next (which should be quite soon )

Im glad you remember me pyromonkey!
Is it true that opacity maps have complicated your render with GI? Maybe we can get some help from another master people with Brazil... cant we? It's weird for me that opacity maps can get slow the rendering... let's wait help... ![]()

Sorry, I'm not a master with opacity maps, I havn't even used Brazil. Just wanted to comment.
It looks like the back of the arm (tricep area) is a little too 'strong' I guess you could say. That's my only critique. So when do we all get to see this animation? ![]() |

I think you should now concemtrate on fine tuning the textures and lighting for your final render again...nice work

i like the face and hair, esp. the hair. You said you wanted some critiz. The body looks stretched, also the arms are off, they are pointed, women are rounded, good job with a little work it will look pretty good

Looking at the poster with my pre-order of NWN you got a pretty good model there. But there is one thing that I noticed right away. In the Jon tutorial you model a body. well Aribeth and Jon have a rather different breast size.
