RAGE 128 PRO and no D3D, OpenGL support under 3dsmax 5
Hello there,
I have a problem: I have a RAGE 128 PRO gfx card and 3dsmax 5, but when i assign Directx it says that there can't be initialized any Buffers and assigning OpenGL makes it crash after the splash screen. I have to use software rasterizer. Also I can't choose any Heidi driver. Can anybody help me!?? -Ondrej |

I always thought Heidi was software renderer? Anyway - firstly make sure you've got the latest drivers! Even though ATi drivers aren't great they'll be vital to getting the card working with MAX. I bought a FIRE GL 8800 a while back and it too had probs with MAX 5.1. In the end I got rid of it cos I couldn't run certain OpenGL software with it at all
![]() Another option would be to uninstall MAX, then uninstall gfx card, re-install gfx card w/ most up-to-date drivers then reinstall MAX - making sure to restart machine each and every frickin' time. good luck, jbw |

hmm
well, i got the latest drivers, but it seems to be more a problem with directx 8/9 features. cause some other apps requiríng directx 9 aren't running also.
Reinstall 3dsmax is the way i want to avoid. |
