Photoshop help

Hey,

I'm not sure if anyone knows anything about Photoshop 6 here....

I'm trying to convert a file to .EPS format, so that we can print a logo I made on a banner. The logo is nothing special or anything, but the machine that's gonna print it needs the file in Vector graphics. I don't know why, prolly because of infinite reslution and stuff.

Anyway, I saved the file as a .EPS format, but the kicker is, i didn't do any of the artwork in vectors. Just copying and pasting, and arranging. I'm lost. I never use photoshop, and now i'm trying to export as vectors. what do i do?

Hmmm... off the top of my head I'd say you've hit a dead end I'm afraid.

You'll need to re-create the logo using either the Pen tool &/or the vector shapes tool - Can't remember if PS 6 has vector shapes? Text in Photoshop 6 should be Vector so don't worry too much about that - just make sure you don't rasterize any layers!

Even so Photoshop isn't really the tool of choice here - if you can try creating it in something like Illustrator or Freehand. All these will export as eps and you'll be guaranteed a vector file - plus you'll have a much easier time creating vector artwork in one of these packages.

Photoshop is not the best choice for create a EPS file. Why? Encapsulated Post Script files are, as you said, vectorial images, and Photoshop, is mainly a photo retoucher.
Advice: use another program to generate the EPS file. For example, Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand or Corel Draw. They work with vectorial shapes, and it's much easier.
Nevertheless, if you need use Photoshop, you can export as EPS only vectorial content in Photoshop. Then... what is vectorial content in photoshop? well, text not rasterized, as jbw said, not rasterized shapes and paths. You can create the shape you need with these tools and then save as EPS format. If you try to save a bitmap image as EPS you can get unexpected results.
Note: You don't have to confuse EPS with TIFF EPS, because they're different formats. Ok?

Yeah, we got someone to convert it to vector graphics using adone illustrator. I was gonna try and use Flash 5, but I see now that I don't have to

Anyway, it's all straigtened out. it's all good. Thanks for the help!
