DWIII - 3D - Nixi - Treeling
Here's what I've managed to put together so far. I'm still working on the design and story, I hope I'll find the time for this.

ok added a sketchy back view of my character and a little bit more detail on the front one. I'm gonna refine them a little bit and then, when i feel ready, start modeling.

cool concept. I like the overall design. The bird-like shapes mixes really well with the tree theme, but it also has that evil tinge to it. Good Luck.

The basemesh is kinda ready. I'm not totally satisfied with topology since I lack some knowledge in that area. However, the model is unwrapped and I have started to experiment in mudbox. Don't know if I should rig him first though.

Looking awesome. See no big topology issues. How many triangles are you using?

Thanks Marv!
I'm using 6584 tris right now, the limit is 10k right? A little update: Started texturing and experimenting with normalmaps, changed his feet and added a couple of more twigs on his shoulders. His new feet are not unwrapped quite yet and therefor look strange. ![]() |

Love the design. I think your 3D model is looking good so far too, though looses some of the dynamic proportions of your concept. I think the branches coming off his shoulders (infact that whole shoulder area together) could be a little larger and more varied.
Maybe it's cause of how he's posed, and when you lower his arms the branches will stick out more, but it's always good to get it as good looking as you can, even in the neutral pose.

i agree with puckducker, his arms might be a tad thinner than they should be.

Puckducker: Thanks for your advice, I might just agree that the shoulder area needs to be a bit bigger. I will look into it.
ryvick: I don't believe that the arms of the model is too thin, actually, if that's what you mean. Maybe they need some adjustments in shape or something. |
