HELP, UVW Mapping problems?

Hey all,

Thanks in advance for any help. Got a strange problem occurring when i try to map a model that im building. When I apply the uvw map, for one the map wont align properly even after having used "view align" and "fit." It simply wont align properly. Also, when i try rotating the gizmo, regardless of what type it is, cylindrical, planar, etc. it skewes when rotated. And i have made sure that my view is aligned to either exact front, side, etc. I have tried everything that i can think of to no avail. Can someone please help with this, im losing hair over this. I was wondering if there is the possibility of clearing all of the UVW coordinates for your models. Cause its funny, in the same scene I can create a simple object, map it, and the UVW's work great. So, it has to be related to the particular models UVW coordinates or something. Thanks again to anyone who can help. It's greatly appreciated!

I've moved this post to the software forum. By your wording, it sounds like you're using max. Net Admiral is right, if you post a pic it would be very helpful. Anyhow, I have a few suggestions.

Check the pivot point of your object you are trying to map. You can do this by going to the hierarchy tab > Pivot > Pivot only. If it is skewed use the center to object and align to object buttons to see if that fixes it. Another option would be to use the Reset X-form utility in the utility panel. Apply the Reset X-form to the object and then collapse the stack back to an editable mesh. Also you can remove UVWs by the uvw remove utility in the utility panel.
