Hi Kage. Very nice work so far. I`ve been doing the same speaker a while ago. Check it out.

Yeah, looks very stylised. Kind of reminds me of a shot I saw with a lightbulb connecting to a power supply. Was laid out almost the same.
I think I'm pretty mad going into the detail that I'm doing on this, but it does show how much I actually like the system I think. Its practise anyhow, isn't it ![]() I'll continue with the sub unit next. Then I may go back and fix a few bumps I've noticed on the pod while messing with specular detail ![]()

Hey, I'm back
![]() Started work last night on the subwoofer. What a massive thing it is ![]() Again, its pretty much 100% accurate from photo refs. It took a long time untangling wires, etc to get to the sides/back to take photos and closeups, but I managed it ![]() You'll probably be happy that I also added a very simple material on this, and not the usual bright orange (I do listen see) ![]() Hope you like it so far (the artifact on the top right is sorted. A light was intermingling with the mesh: ![]() Sorry about the quality of this render, but its getting too late to be taking 30 mins to do a complex one (but light is fixed): ![]() I'm going to start adding the screw holes tommorow (its time for bed ), and somehow model the grill, but I'll probably have to do an opacity trick on that. Well, I know I'll have to do an opacity trick on that. Theres like 1000 odd holes if not more...and I'm sure those would be pretty impossible to model cleanly without really messing stuff up. Hopefully I'll also get the cone done too. Then from there its all the detail at the back ![]()

Corrected a few things, and added the grill.
The grill texture or lack there of is the result of a texture I made in Photoshop and placed in the Opacity and Bump sections of the map: ![]() I'm sorry about the low quality renders I did last night. I hope you like Any comments are welcome you know, even if you completly hate the work I'm doing ![]() Next part I'm going to get done is the holes for the screws, followed by the cone

nice work Kage
is the mesh[on the speaker not the actual mesh... ![]() Supposed to be angled like that? Usually you see them straight |

Haha, I looked at it and thought it was angled, but it must have been messing with my eyes, as I just looked again straight on, and its straight yeah...
Anyhow ![]()

Great updates kage, keep 'em comming.
One thing though, how did you manage to get that nice sharp ending to those circles on the subwoofer? Got any wires there? ^^ |

Sure do
![]() I hope the mesh has enough edges to work with to create the holes. If not, that part actually didn't take that long to make: ![]()

![]() This is next! Added the holes/screws, and I've also made the cone behind, with the Logitech logo. I may need to edit that as I don't think the materials are right, but for now, I'm happy with it: ![]() I'll start the back next!

Hey, sorry for the lack of updates this week. I've been having a few problems, but will hopefully be carrying on tommorow if my computer will let me.
Rendering, with only a simple material, crashes the PC with a memory exception error every time. I had overclocked my computer, and so, I set it back to default, and the error still occurs. It can either crash to Windows without warning, or display that error. I have 2GB's of RAM which obviously isn't enough for this highly detailed scene I'm creating ![]() The sub alone with 2 Turbosmooth Iterations is reaching almost 800 thousand polys (and thats within the scene. Some objects I set to 3 in render), and I haven't finished it yet... So, with all objects in the scene, were talking at least 1.5 million polys so far with 2 iterations, and thats only with one copy of each object (theres going to be 5 speakers), and my computer cannot take it, it would seem. Tuss, your words are really great to hear ![]() I will not dissapoint. I'll just have to order another 2GB's (though my 32bit Windows will only handle 3GB haha), so for now, it looks like I'll have to post screengrabs.
